This thing, with the getting and the respecting, sometimes seems to be at the roots of a lot of conversations that go horribly wrong. The person who demands understanding about something that is hard to understand is going to be as frustrated as the person trying to articulate that something cannot be understood unless it’s an experience. And what many people seem to miss in these conversations is that when you are demanding that you need to ‘get’ something to be on board with it, you’re singling it out as abnormal and weird. You are actually demanding a justification for its existence, not supporting someone whom you’re claiming to want to work in solidarity with.
How I feel sometimes
my social media decrease has been great, but it did not make me “better” (what the fuck does that mean) by any means because I forgot I cannot shut off real life lolol. Oh well, I tried it.
I am going to take a suggestion s.e. smith made over the Twitterings and start “grading” my days categorically in one of these notebooks I got for my last birthday until I get some legit therapy again.
I admit I’m not nearly as angry at Tumblr as my brother is though, I save that kind of spite for [insert]

I hate this fucking setup and I hate the people who run it and I hate the fact that “blogging” has become just this stupid fucking concept that means anyone can turn their inane, useless thoughts into gold and become “Tumblr famous.” Maybe it’s just who I follow, but there is no middle ground.
It’s either white-supremacist, illiterate cocks, or the people I agree with, or sometimes disagree with but can’t really because my privilege and station in life render my opinion moot. And I agree with that.Obviously I can only live in a world that only includes me, myself, and my thoughts.

Reblogged for commentary. I actually think this was the worst possible way he could have handled it. First, he didn’t take any responsibility for supporting Tosh in the first place, then he insinuated that the root of all of this was feminists not having a sense of humor (though he was careful to balance it out with (much milder) criticisms of comedians- that they can’t take criticism). Then, when some people in the crowd booed his comment about feminists not having a sense of humor, he pulled the “See?” card- because objecting to what he was saying is apparently the same thing as not having a sense of humor.
THEN he goes on to say “So I’ve learned all about the rape culture this week, and I didn’t know before” BUT he then says “And it still doesn’t matter, and women are just getting all over emotional, as women do, and dudes you should humor them a bit and then tell them to shut the fuck up.”
Then he finished with a joke about killing jews, to show “Hey, I’m being offensive! It’s what comedians do! What, you can’t laugh at me being offensive?”
It was really, really gross. It was also a really pathetic attempt to appease his more progressive fans while still not alienating any jerks by actually taking a position. He did not once, not once, criticize anything Daniel Tosh said or did here or act like maybe there was a legitimate reason to criticize it.

I watched the interview earlier and spent most of it arguing with him. It was a useless gesture, but the point was that the above commentary is right on the money. “Oh I had no idea there was rape culture, but now I am aware the term exists. But hey, after I indulge you for a few seconds and listen to you (like that stupid Klondike commercial), shut up because the man is still in charge, okay? Because we really don’t want to hear it.” I was also frustrated how little Jon Stewart challenged him in the interview.
